temporal context. Sexual orientation, gender identity, sexual preferences, and relationship choices vary and each one is turned into a personal narrative during the therapy session.<\/p><p>Apart from that, the issues brought up in therapy do not differ from the ones brought up by the general population. However, they occur in a social environment that adds another dimension to those issues for the LGBTQ+ community; that of being accepted or not. Internalised self-oppression pushes the individual to question their own identity. Having common experiences and sharing them can help the person in building an identity by including all the different aspects of their personality.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7235f85 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7235f85\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \r\n\r\n&#8220;LGBTQ+Therapy is  cognisant  of the  social  context  in  which gender and sexual diversities  live as well  as the particular concerns  of each individual. It works  with the hypervigilance   and   consequences   of   living   within  a  society   which  is   biased   towards heteronormativity   and   binary   conception   of   gender.   It   helps   clients   understand   their experiences and  the impact of external oppressions, how  they are internalised  and  a range of issues  specific  to these  populations  and  communities.
