Psychologist - Thessaloniki Katerina Tzioridou

Professional Training

  • Ms Tzioridou is a graduate of the department of Psychology, School of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1994).
  • After getting her degree, she attended a four-year training course (1998 – 2003) at the Institute of Cognitive – Behavioural Psychotherapy of Stuttgart (Zentrum für Psychotherapie Stuttgart) in Germany, from which she acquired a degree and authorisation to pursue the occupation of psychotherapist.
  • After that, she was registered on the state healthcare system of Baden-Württemberg.
  • Upon her return to Greece, she trained and became certified in Systemic Couples' Therapy at the Institute of Systemic Therapy of Thessaloniki.
  • Finally, she specialised in issues of sexual orientation and gender identity and worked, individually and in groups, with the LGBTQ+ community, as well as with support groups for their families.

Career

  • From 1996 to 2001 she was employed at an outpatient institution for disabled people and people with chronic mental illness (Behindertenhilfe Leonberg e.V.) in Leonberg, Germany, providing psychosocial care to adults and adolescents in their residence (protected apartments). At the same time, she planned and carried out individualised psychotherapeutic intervention programmes to the institution's beneficiaries.
  • In 2002 she completed her clinical practice in a public psychiatric organisation in Stuttgart (Klinikum Stuttgart - Bürgerhospital) in Germany at the department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy as a psychotherapist-in-training. Practice included providing supervised psychotherapeutic intervention to patients, as well as psychoeducation groups centered around dealing with mental illness.
  • From 2002 to 2005 she was employed at an approved psychiatrist's – neurologist's praxis (Dr. med. Gerhard Dieter Roth) in Osfildern, Germany, providing psychotherapy services to adults following approval by the relevant insurance provider.
  • In 2006 she returned to Greece, where she still works as a Psychologist – Psychotherapist in her private office in Thessaloniki. At the same time, she provides psychotherapy counselling and supervision for mental health professionals. She has been a scientific associate of Center for Adlerian Psychology in Thessaloniki and of Mediterranean College in the educational programmes “Professional Specialisation in Relationship and Couples' Counselling” and “Counselling – Theory and Practice”. Under the same title, she has coordinated self-awareness and therapy groups in the YWCA of Thessaloniki and was responsible for providing psychosocial support and counselling on an individual level.
  • Finally, in 2017 she was employed by the Non-Governmental Organisation METAdrasi, where she worked in the domains of immigration and refugees. She served as facility manager of the Shelter for Unaccompanied Minors in Thessaloniki.
